Absolutely not. ImgSlim runs entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. When you drop an image, it's read from your hard drive, processed in memory, and saved back to your device. No data leaves your computer at any point.

ImgSlim supports converting between JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and ICO formats — in any direction. You can also convert multiple images into a single PDF using the Image to PDF tab. ICO conversion is particularly useful for creating website favicons.

The Enhancer lets you adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, highlights, and shadows using simple sliders. You can also use one-click presets: Vivid boosts colours, Sharp adds edge clarity, Warm adds a golden tone, Cool adds a blue tone, and B&W converts to grayscale. Everything happens in real-time preview before you download.

The target file size feature lets you set a maximum output size — for example, 200KB. ImgSlim will automatically find the highest quality setting that results in a file at or below your target. Useful for email attachments, profile photos, or websites with file size requirements.

WebP is a modern image format developed by Google. It produces files 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality, and supports transparency like PNG. All modern browsers support WebP. Converting your website images to WebP can significantly improve page load speed and your Google PageSpeed score.

Go to the Convert tab, drop your logo image (PNG works best), select "ICO (.ico) — favicon" as the output format, and click Convert. For best results use a square image at 512×512 or 256×256 pixels. The resulting .ico file can be added to your website's root directory and referenced with a link tag in your HTML head.

ImgSlim is genuinely free with no hidden catch. Because all processing happens in your browser, there are zero server costs per user. The site is supported by non-intrusive display advertising. There's no premium tier, no feature gates, and no reason to create an account.
